How to build your resume here
- Start from an example or your old resume. The examples show the structure recruiters expect; an import puts your existing resume into the editor, word for word.
- Edit on the left, watch the page on the right. The preview is the PDF: dashed lines mark where each page ends, so you can see a second page coming before it happens.
- Tighten it. Lead every bullet with what you did and what changed because of it. AI Optimize proposes rewrites side by side — keep only the ones you like.
- Download the PDF. Choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog. The file is real text, which is what applicant tracking systems read.
What makes a resume ATS-friendly
Real text, one reading order
An applicant tracking system reads the PDF's text layer. Text inside images, tables used for layout and text boxes can come out scrambled or empty.
Standard section names
"Experience", "Education", "Skills". Creative headings make a parser guess where your work history is.
The job's own words
Recruiters search for the tools and skills in the job description. Name the ones you actually use, in their standard spelling.
Then practise the interview it gets you
A resume gets you the interview; the answers get you the job. Take your finished resume into the free AI mock interview — it asks questions from your own experience — or turn it into your answer to "Tell me about yourself".

Is this resume builder really free?
Yes. Building, editing and downloading your resume as a PDF is free with no account, no watermark and no limit. The two AI features — AI Optimize and importing an existing resume — each use one AI call from a fair-use allowance of 20 a day, shared with the other free tools on this site.
Where is my resume saved?
In your browser, on this device (IndexedDB) — not on our servers and not in an account. It is there when you come back in the same browser; clearing your site data deletes it. Download a PDF to keep a copy anywhere else.
Is the PDF ATS-friendly?
Yes. The PDF is real, selectable text in a single reading order — no text inside images — with standard section headings (Experience, Education, Skills), so applicant tracking systems can parse it. For the most conservative result, use the single-column template, a black or dark accent and no photo.
What does AI Optimize change?
Only the wording of what you wrote: your headline, summary and bullet points, made tighter and more active. It cannot touch your employers, titles, dates or contact details, and a rewrite that adds a number or a scale your original line did not have is put back as you wrote it. You see every change side by side and choose which to keep.
Can I import my existing resume?
Yes — a PDF, a Word file (.docx) or pasted text. The file is read in your browser; one AI call then sorts the text into the editor's sections, word for word. Anything the AI returns that is not in your text is dropped.
Should my resume have a photo?
In the US, UK, Canada and Australia, leave it off — many employers screen photos out to avoid bias. In parts of Europe, Asia and the Middle East a professional photo is still expected. The builder supports both; the photo stays in your browser.
