The classic self introduction for HR and campus rounds
In campus placements and HR rounds in India, interviewers often expect a fuller self introduction: a greeting and your name, your education, your projects or internships, two strengths each backed by something you did, a line about where you are from or your hobbies if you like, and your goal. Keep each part to a sentence or two.
How long it should be
Sixty to ninety seconds — about 150 to 220 spoken words — for most interviews; thirty seconds for a screening call or a group introduction. Past two minutes, interviewers stop following the thread and start waiting for the end.
What to leave out

Good morning. My name is Ananya Rao, and I’m from Nagpur. I’m in the final year of my B.E. in Computer Engineering at a college in Pune, with a CGPA of 8.4.
For my final-year project I built a timetable app for our department that students use to check room changes, and last summer I did a two-month internship at a small software company, where I wrote tests for their billing module.
My strengths are consistency — I’ve solved over 300 problems on coding platforms in the last year — and explaining things clearly, which I practise as a teaching assistant in a first-year programming lab. Outside class I play chess. My goal is to start as a software engineer in a team where I can learn how large systems are built and tested.
I’m a data analyst with four years in e-commerce, and right now I own the weekly revenue reporting for the category teams at a mid-size online retailer.

Will it make things up about me?
