How the free mock interview works

Step 1

It asks out loud

Questions come from this site’s own question bank — eleven role tracks, drawn at random so a second round is a different interview — or, if you add your resume, from your own projects and roles. Your browser reads them aloud, which is most of the difference between rehearsing and reading.

Step 2

You answer out loud

Your browser’s own speech recognition types what you say, live, and Next question moves on whenever you are done — any length, nothing scored in between. Answering by voice is the point: almost every weak interview answer is weak in ways you only hear when you say it — the 40-second setup, the missing decision, the trailing off.

Step 3

An AI reviews the round

When the round ends, one model pass reviews every answer together: a 1–5 score and what to fix for each, a stronger opening sentence in your own words — with blanks where a fact is missing, never a guess — and what to fix first across the interview. With a resume, it points at the experience you should have used.

What is free here, and what needs an account

Everything on 360Interview.ai is free and account-free: this mock interview, the tell me about yourself generator, the role question bank, the coding question bank, and the answer builder. The daily fair-use cap exists because each round’s feedback, each set of resume-based questions and each generated self introduction costs us a model call.

What a browser tab cannot do is help you during the interview itself: it can only hear your microphone, never the interviewer. That is the line between practice and live help — and it is the honest reason this page ends with a link rather than a paywall.

Frequently asked questions

Is this AI mock interview really free?

Yes — no account, no email, no card. You pick a role, the browser reads each question out loud, you answer out loud, and when the round ends an AI reviews every answer. A fair-use limit of at least ten rounds a day keeps it running for everyone.

Can it interview me on my own resume?

Yes. Add your resume as a PDF, a Word file or pasted text, pick it before you start, and the interviewer writes that round’s three questions from your actual projects and roles. The feedback then points at the experience from your resume that an answer should have used.

Where is my resume stored?

Only in your browser, on this device (IndexedDB) — not on our servers, and it is not an account. When you start a round with it, its text is sent with that request to our AI provider to write the questions and tailor the feedback, and we do not keep it. Delete it here any time; clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it too.

Does it need a microphone or a camera?

Neither is required. Your browser transcribes what you say; if the microphone is blocked or your browser has no speech recognition (Firefox, mainly), type the answer instead and the scoring is identical. The camera is optional: turn it on to see yourself the way the interviewer would — the preview stays on your device and is never recorded or sent.

Where does my voice go?

Speech recognition is your browser’s own feature — in Chrome and Edge that means Google’s speech service, the same one behind any voice input on the web. We never receive the audio. Only the text of your answers is sent to us, once, when the round ends and the AI reviews them, and we keep a count of requests rather than the text itself.

Can an AI interview assistant help during the real interview?

Not this one — a browser tab can only hear your own microphone, not the interviewer. Real-time help during a live call needs software that hears the call audio, which is what SubcueAI’s macOS and Windows apps and browser extension do. Its free tier needs no credit card.

How are the answers scored?

Nothing is scored while you answer — like a real interview, you just move on with Next question, and there is no minimum length. When the round ends, one review covers every answer: a 1–5 score each on the structure interviewers actually listen for (a short situation, your own decisions, a measured result, a named tradeoff), what to fix, a stronger opening line built only from what you said — with blanks where a fact is missing — and what to fix first across the interview. Scores are deliberately harsh — most real answers land at 2 or 3 — because a free 5 helps nobody.
